Anaplan's white paper on Anaplan Intelligence makes a clear point: AI in planning has to be practical, not promotional. It covers the current planning gap that stops organisations from activating their data, Anaplan's portfolio of predictive, generative, and agentic AI products, and the platform and compute power behind them. Anaplan positions the portfolio as a way to operationalise AI with trust, transparency, and control.
We agree with that framing, and we would add one observation from delivery work.

AI inherits the quality of the model
An AI agent that answers a question about margin, headcount, or inventory is reading the logic and data of the underlying planning model. If that model has undocumented calculations, inconsistent hierarchies, or unclear data lineage, the agent will produce answers that are fast but hard to trust. Planners will not act on a number they cannot trace.
This is why trust and transparency are as much a modelling concern as an AI concern. Before AI adds value, a planning environment needs:
• Clear lineage, so any output can be traced back to its source data and formulas.
• Consistent structure, so agents interpret dimensions and hierarchies the same way users do.
• Governance, so it is clear who owns each assumption and who can change it.
